Not your Grandmother’s Wallpaper

Wallpaper. I bet you all have horror stories. From removal to applying it, just about everyone has had some sort of nightmarish issue with this devil. For years, wallpaper has had to deal with this bad reputation, but lately, wallpaper is becoming less of a dirty word with all the new design trends.

We have seen resurgence in wallpaper lately. It’s not your grandmother’s wallpaper! Gigantic cabbage roses and gingham checks (though those are still out there for purchase), have been replaced with modern prints and textures. Application has changed a good deal to – from pre-pasted to dry and even self-adhesive.

But did you know that wallpaper no longer needs to be a floor-to-ceiling application? Here are some ideas on how to use wallpaper in your home.

  1. As a Focal Point – Rather than a large piece of art, apply bold wallpaper to a feature wall. Or add life to that old bookshelf by adding some bold wallpaper to make your special items pop.
  2. Added Texture – Add some texture with anything from grass cloth to micro-suede or even a paintable bark texture.
  3. Look Up – Wallpaper doesn’t have to be just for walls. Consider applying it to the ceiling to give your room an unexpected twist.

If you want to style up your space with wallpaper, Cheek Interiors can help you with all your interior design service needs!

Tips on Accessorizing Your Home
